About Us:

At Old Queen Street, we’re passionate about creating exceptional experiences. From elegant weddings and corporate gatherings to memorable dinners and lively canape receptions, we take pride in our service, attention to detail, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for a dynamic individual to join our front-of-house and events team, someone who thrives in both guest-facing and behind-the-scenes roles.

Role Overview:

This multi-faceted position combines the energy and professionalism of a Welcome Host with the organisational support of an Events Assistant. You’ll be the first point of contact for guests in the restaurant, setting the tone for an exceptional experience. Behind the scenes, you’ll also assist the events and restaurant teams to help plan, coordinate, and ensure the smooth running of our events.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide a warm and engaging welcome to all guests upon arrival.

  • Manage reservations via phone, email, online booking systems, and walk-ins.
  • Organise and optimise seating plans to ensure smooth flow and minimise wait times.
  • Escort guests to their tables with confidence and grace, making small talk and building rapport along the way.
  • Maintain a polished, professional presence at the front desk.
  • Handle special guest requests, communicate dietary needs to the team, and manage VIP arrivals.
  • Support the restaurant floor team with guest-related queries and transitions during service.
  • Assist the Events Manager and restaurant leadership with event planning and coordination.
  • Follow up with clients via phone and email regarding event details, updates, and confirmations.
  • Ensure all event-related communication is passed on accurately to the operations team.
  • Help prepare event materials such as place cards, floor plans, menus, and schedules.
  • Support the execution of events on the day, including setup, guest direction, and liaising with service staff.
  • Monitor event timelines and troubleshoot small issues to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Be a knowledgeable point of contact for both clients and internal teams during events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A natural people-person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in hospitality or events is highly regarded.
  • Calm under pressure and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and confident demeanour.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event needs.

What You’ll Gain:

  • The opportunity to work across two dynamic areas of hospitality.
  • A supportive, team-oriented environment with opportunities to grow.
  • Hands-on experience in both front-of-house service and event coordination.
  • Staff meals, training opportunities, and a fun, welcoming workplace culture.
  • Annual CODE App subscription
  • Access to Hospitality Action Support
  • A supportive, collaborative culture as a B Corp company
