In the heart of historic Westminster, you'll find Old Queen Street Café, a British brasserie with delectable food in a relaxed and warm environment. Near to Parliament, Old Queen Street Café is a place to debate the news of the day. The setting is a beautiful town house boasting a 60-cover restaurant, a bustling events space and private members' club.


Lantana leads the creation and operational delivery of this one-of-kind customer experience on behalf of our client, political and cultural magazine UnHerd.


We are currently recruiting for a Senior Sous Chef to join us; could it be you? This is an exciting opportunity to craft culinary masterpieces and lead a passionate team in a vibrant and innovative environment.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Craft Culinary Masterpieces : Build delicious, beautifully presented dishes, reflecting seasonality, sustainability and be nutritionally balanced whilst being exciting and delicious.
  • Lead with Confidence : Manage shifts with a balance of control and relaxation, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Build and Inspire : Drive quality and high standards amongst your team. Recruit, motivate, train, and retain a passionate and skilled team.
  • Drive Excellence : Take accountability for client satisfaction, exceeding their expectations whilst committing to extensive safety and financial health.
  • Support Your Head Chef : Collaborate closely to maintain the high standards of our kitchen and step into their shoes when they take a deserved break.


To be successful in this role you’ll :

  • Have a strong background in restaurants and events at Sous level.
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with fresh, seasonal produce.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and maintain a professional attitude.
  • Be experienced in stock control and order systems, ensuring efficient and cost-effective kitchen operations.
  • Have a proven track record of working to targets and KPIs, with a solid understanding of financial management within the kitchen.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills, with experience in leading a kitchen team and stepping into the Head Chef's role in their absence.
  • Be presentable, organised and tech-savvy, with a solid career path demonstrating the ability to manage a kitchen successfully.
